West Lake Trainers
Curtis Nelson
- Personal Trainer
- Group Fitness Instructor
Curtis’s experience in Physical Fitness started in youth athletics in multiple sports including baseball, wrestling, football and track. Curtis excelled in baseball specifically, eventually competing at the collegiate level in his home state of Oklahoma.
After moving to the LA area in 1993 Curtis’s wrestling background came in handy when he met and started training with a Marine Chief Instructor in the art of hand-to-hand combat and tactical self-defense.
It is his experience in sports that led Curtis down the path of becoming a personal trainer after being encouraged by a few fellow gym managers who took notice of his work ethic and knowledge of fitness movements while training at their facility. Not needing much encouragement Curtis jumped right in with both feet by getting his credential as a NSCA-Certified Personal Trainer (NSCA-CPT) and started training clients.
Curtis’s past experience in team sports and competition makes him a natural fit as the Owner/Instructor of West Coast Boot Camp/Westlake Village. Curtis excels at working in the outdoor environment with his Boot Campers while keeping an intense but an upbeat atmosphere for his clients.
Curtis continually builds his education by keeping up with fitness science and nutrition that will allow him to better serve both himself and his clients, specifically focusing on new ways to challenge him physically while maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
In his off time Curtis’s hobbies include camping, fishing, softball and on occasion you will find him being dragged to the mat rolling around in a MMA studio that needs an extra training dummy.
